Job Title: Goods-In Assistant

Reports to: Purchasing Manager

Hours: 08:00 – 17:00 hrs (Monday to Thursday), 08:00 – 16:00 hrs (Friday)

Location: M&H Plastics, London Road, Beccles, Suffolk, NR34 8TS

Job Purpose:

To receive incoming goods from suppliers and ensure goods are distributed efficiently and correctly to locations around the site.


  • Receive incoming goods from suppliers ensuring goods are correct and in good condition
  • Book goods into M&H Plastics internal stock system and liaise with suppliers by telephone and in writing in regard to placing purchase orders for goods and order progression
  • Offload goods from suppliers vehicles as required which maybe by forklift or by hand, so there may be some listing involved
  • Take information from delivery notes and book deliveries into the M&H internal computer system and distribute the goods to the relevant department either by forklift or by hand
  • Liaise with suppliers both by telephone and in writing in regards to placing purchase orders for goods and order progression
  • Co-ordinate the return of goods to suppliers that have been incorrectly delivered or are faulty
  • Provide cover for the Goods-In Supervisor in periods of absence
  • Assist management of the maintenance stores transactions
  • To ensure Site A roadway is clear of delivery vehicles between 07:30 – 08:00 am
  • Provide absence cover for the Goods In Supervisor
  • The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description. The post holder may be required to vary their working hours to 07:30 – 16:30 to cover the absence of the other Goods In assistant.

It is anticipated that approximately 6 weeks per annum the post holder may be required to carry out general Production Operative duties within the factory.
